Italy Charms the World with Unmatched Tourism Offerings

BIT Milan has solidified its position as the go-to marketplace for Italian tourism products worldwide, showcasing a successful edition brimming with an ever-expanding and diverse range of tourism experiences.

Italy: The Top Destination for Gastronomic and Outdoor Experiences

The 2024 edition highlighted the surging demand for gastronomic and outdoor experiences among international tourists. Italy, with its breathtaking landscapes, tantalizing flavors, and rich traditions, stands as the ideal destination to cater to this ever-growing demand.

Exhibitors Thrilled, Italian Offerings Shine

Exhibitors from all corners of Italy welcomed the influx of international visitors, seizing the opportunity to showcase their innovative and revamped tourism offerings.

Sardinia Region Unveils a New Face:

“The Sardinia Region chose BIT to present itself in a new and innovative light, and it paid off: this edition recorded a record number of visitors to our stand, with excellent participation not only from visitors but also from operators and industry media,” stated Giovanni Chessa, Councilor for Tourism, Craftsmanship, and Commerce for the Sardinia Region. “At BIT 2024, we wanted to showcase a landscape in its broadest sense: culture, tradition, food, sea, and hinterland, but above all, nature and technology came together perfectly to create a three-dimensional forest that transported fairgoers to one of the most beautiful lands in the world.”

Abruzzo Meets Strong Interest from the Foreign Market:

“BIT always represents an important moment for comparison with operators and competitors. Abruzzo had a very positive response, with great and growing interest from the American market and confirmation from European ones such as Switzerland, England, Germany, and Norway. The nature product is particularly popular, with our Parks,” declared Carlo Tereo De Landerset, Director of the Tourism Sector for the Abruzzo Region.

Experiential Tourism on the Rise: Data and Trends

Experiential tourism, particularly gastronomic and outdoor tourism, is booming in Italy and Europe. According to Eurostat-European Travel Commission 2023 data, among European tourists between October 2023 and March 2024, approximately 21.7 million (17% of the total) prefer outdoor experiences, while 19.7 million (16% of the total) opt for gastronomic experiences. The latest study published by Enit-Touring Club Italiano confirms this trend in Bel Paese.

Italy Offers a Range of Tourism Options to Suit All Tastes:

From the Venetian Dolomites to the passion-filled tourism of Basilicata, Italy offers a wide range of tourism options to meet the needs of every traveler.

Veneto: New Tourism Products and Consolidated Destinations

“The Veneto Region – explains Federico Caner, Councilor for Tourism, Agriculture, and EU Funds for the Veneto Region – has created new tourism products in recent years, in addition to consolidating the destinations it already has: we start from the Venetian Coast to reach Lake Garda, passing through the Dolomites, which this year are also under discussion to reach what will be 2026 with Milan-Cortina.”

Basilicata: A Land Rich in Nature and Art

“We participated in BIT because it is the first and main launch event for the tourist season in Italy and it is an important opportunity to promote our territory. In this edition, we recorded an extraordinary presence of an attentive public and institutions. We welcomed our guests to a stand without photographic images but with drawings to underline the extraordinary and original relationship between nature and art in Basilicata,” concluded Antonio Nicoletti, director of Apt Basilicata.
