Having excellent tools is vital for navigating web3 efficiently, and the wallet is one of the most important tools. In this article, we consider the best wallets for the three blockchains with the highest user numbers and volumes: Solana, Bitcoin, and Ethereum.

In the past year, Solana has become the go-to chain for users trading NFTs and memecoins daily, thanks to its simple and effective UI and minimal transaction fees, registering immense volumes. The three main recommended wallets for operating on Solana are:

  • Phantom: The most used and well-known wallet, featuring a simple and clean UI while maintaining a wide range of technical functions. This wallet has been reliable and continually improved over the years, and it offers the option to connect a cold account for increased security. It supports all types of NFTs/inscriptions/tokens and recently became multi-chain, supporting not just Solana but also Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Polygon.
  • Solflare: Marketed as the safest and fastest wallet for Solana, it focuses on a more technical product aimed at experienced users. While Phantom can be considered the “go-to” wallet for any Solana user, Solflare finds its niche among users already well-integrated into the ecosystem.
  • Backpack: The youngest wallet among those mentioned, it was created as a foundational product for the MadLads NFT collection, initially designed as the best tool for storing NFTs. It has since evolved into a complete wallet like Phantom and Solflare. The Backpack team recently released their own on-chain exchange, one of many initiatives by this innovative team, making it worth watching their wallet’s development closely.

Moving on to Bitcoin, we have seen a craze for Ordinals and recently Runes in recent months. Therefore, it is essential to have excellent wallets to simplify our user experience in Bitcoin’s complex ecosystem. We recommend two wallets:

  • Xverse and Unisat: These are very similar wallets that support Ordinals, Runes, and many other functions to ensure users have everything they need. However, they differ significantly in UI. We recommend Xverse for less experienced users due to its simple and clean interface, while Unisat is better suited for experienced users because of its numerous super technical features that might be confusing for novices.

As mentioned earlier, Phantom has recently added support for Bitcoin, but due to the recent nature of this addition, we do not recommend using this wallet for operating on the Bitcoin blockchain. On the other hand, for Ethereum, Phantom remains an excellent solution with a superior interface and speed compared to the historically popular and widely used Metamask. Metamask remains a highly reliable option due to its many years as the undisputed king of wallets on the Ethereum network, though it has not updated significantly, losing ground to new competitors.
